DreamCloud Mattress Review

The DreamCloud luxury hybrid mattress was built to give sleepers a dreamlike sleeping experience. It is a big mattress and is often considered one of the most affordable luxury mattresses.  Let’s take a look.

Nerd Score: 4.8/5

The DreamCloud is marketed as a luxury hybrid mattress with a whopping 15 inches of thickness! That is about four inches thicker than most commercial mattresses.

DreamCloud also didn’t include “cloud” in its name just for a giggle. You know you’ve had dreams of catching blissful, easy zzzz’s atop a fluffy, white cumulus cloud. The DreamCloud tries to make that one come true, too.

And not dream-like and cloud-like in the abstract. The DreamCloud features a full eight layers of fabric, foam and coils specifically engineered to address a laundry list of sleeper needs and to deliver “soft, plush and comfy” in spades.

DreamCloud really believes their take on mattress luxury should be your take. And the company will give you an entire year of sleeping on its mattress, a 365-night risk-free trial, and a lifetime warranty, in an attempt to convince you of that.

And while the most luxurious mattresses can cost thousands of dollars, the DreamCloud, made by a direct-to-consumer company, seems to be able to bring you quality without the pain of a super high price tag.

Lovely and affordable. Here we introduce you to the DreamCloud mattress.

The DreamCloud stakes its reputation on the following features:

  • 15-inch mattress thickness and 8 layers of memory foam and innerspring coils.
  • Uses Eco-friendly and CertiPUR-US Certified foams, good for you & the earth.
  • Recommended for all types of sleep positions.
  • Patented dream plush top and patent-pending pocket coils.
  • Free shipping and free returns.
  • Optional White Glove service to set up new mattress & remove old one for $149
  • 365-day trial period, at three times as long as other companies
  • A lifetime warranty. And lifetime means the life of the mattress, just so long as you’re sleeping on it that whole way through.

The DreamCloud is a medium firm, luxury hybrid mattress made up of both memory foam and innerspring coils.

Memory foam mattresses earned a bad rap for retaining too much body heat. Better technology—cooling gels, perforated latex and foam—makes it easier for foam mattresses to sleep cooler. The DreamCloud hybrid has several cooling features, including innerspring coils that naturally disperse heat.

Dreamcloud Mattress Firmness

The DreamCloud is considered medium firm, also known as luxury firm.

While the plush top gives it a cushy feel, the foam and coils bounce back and prevent you from sinking into the mattress, never to be seen again. They also do a very good job of keeping your spine aligned, straight like an arrow.

Edge support

The foam used in the DreamCloud will depress when you sit on the edge of the mattress, but sleeping on the edges won’t cause problems, like making it harder to sleep. You can sleep easily on the edge without losing comfortability and without increasing any pressure on the wrong parts of your body.

Motion transfer

The DreamCloud is fairly average at isolating movement so that one sleeper doesn’t bother their partner when he/she needs to shift during the night or to get out of the bed altogether.

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch luxury hybrid mattress constructed with eight layers all designed to work together to create the ultimate sleep experience.

The top layer is a tufted cashmere top. The tufting keeps the material in place and prevents it from shifting or flattening out prematurely. The cashmere is also breathable, soft and naturally resistant to bedbugs.

The second layer is gel-infused memory foam. The gel works to cool the foam and the foam allows the body to contour to the surface and avoids painful pressure on specific parts of the body.

The third layer is a soft, quilted layer of memory foam. A second soft layer already? Sure, the more plush layers, the better for a mattress that aspires to feel like a cloud.

The fourth layer is made of natural latex, a premium and naturally hypoallergenic latex that accounts for the bounce you feel when you rest on the mattress. It also is another structure to help your body easily contour to the mattress surface.

The fifth layer is called “Dream plush” and is a dense, supportive layer of memory foam.

Not to be outdone, layer No. 6 is an even more dense layer of memory foam. This layer provides the structure that keeps your spine aligned.

The seventh layer is a patent-pending set of coils called “BestRest” Coils. There are five zones of coils arranged throughout the layer. They are described as “micro coils” that work together to support the mattress and give it bounce where needed.

Finally, lucky No. 8, is another high-density layer of “super soft” memory foam. This is the home base of the mattress, the layer that makes the mattress supportive and durable.

DreamCloud Mattress Trial

What you are about to read is NOT a misprint: You will be able to test the DreamCloud for a year of your life, a full 365 days, if you want.

If you decide after an entire year sleeping on the DreamCloud that the DreamCloud is not your ideal mattress mate, the company will remove it from your home and refund your payment. The risk-free trial is three times longer than most others.

Perhaps that is the key to DreamCloud being able to say that less than 3 percent of DreamCloud customers return the mattress.

Returning it is not hard if you’re one of the three in 100 that says no. You can return it at anytime during the 365 days. DreamCloud will donate the used mattress to a nearby charity.

DreamCloud Mattress Warranty

The DreamCloud comes with a limited lifetime warranty. They call their warranty the “everlong” warranty and it lasts as long as you own the mattress. Of course, you will run afoul of the warranty if the mattress has been abused or neglected. It also doesn’t cover normal wear and tear. Be careful about that. It may be a tough thing to prove after 20 years.

Unboxing a DreamCloud Mattress

The DreamCloud comes compressed and rolled into a cylinder case like a really big sleeping bag. While you may need help setting it up, it will expand quickly and be ready for use quickly.

Standard shipping to your doorstep is free, but you can also pay an additional $149 for White Glove setup and removal of your old mattress.

They strive to ship within 24 hours of your order and to deliver to your door within 1-5 business days. A realistic time frame for delivery is more like 2-3 weeks. The mattresses are popular and keeping up with the demand has been a challenge for the company that launched this mattress at the beginning of 2018.

Customer service

At DreamCloud, customer service is known as the “concierge team.” They will take queries by phone or web chat seven days per week, 6 a.m. PST to 9 p.m. PST. You can also email them anytime your heart desires.

We chatted them up about their lifetime warranty within minutes of getting onto the DreamCloud website and they were quick to explain how it all worked.

Nerd Score: 4.8/5

The DreamCloud luxury hybrid mattress was built to give sleepers a dreamlike sleeping experience.

It’s a tall order, but the company goes all out to chase that goal: innovative fabrics and materials, the latest technology, one of the thickest profiles in the industry, a 365-day trial period and a lifetime warranty.

Basically, DreamCloud has tried to do everything it can to assure you will not want for or need another mattress for the rest of your natural life.

The warranty guarantees you a new mattress at no charge to you for the first 10 years if DreamCloud confirms there was a defect in the materials or workmanship. After that, DreamCloud will repair, recover or replace your DreamCloud if/when it can verify the defects exist.

DreamCloud built what they want to sell as the best mattress on the market with eight layers of quality foam, fabric, and coils. That’s more than other mattresses.  One of the layers is patented. A second is patent-pending. The 365-day trial period is three times as long as any other “look see” period.

Those layers do cushion the body, especially for lighter to medium weight customers and those who prefer to sleep on their back or side. Your spine will thank you. You’ll avoid pain from too much pressure on your hips, tights, back, and shoulders thanks to how well it contours to your body. But if you’re heavier or want to sleep on your stomach, this medium firm offering may not be firm enough to support you.

There’s no risk to give the mattress a try. If it works for you, you’ll be sleeping pretty for a very long time.
